Habit: Loose-upright clumps, sometimes arching, may need staking.
Size: 80-120 (150) cm tall; number/m²: 6-8.
Flowers: Dark blue flower helmets in many loose racemes; June to July.
Fruits: Brownish, inconspicuous seed cases.
Leaves: Decoratively palmate, divided, dark to almost black-green.
Demands: No direct sunlight to semi-shady, full shade possible outside trees with intensive root systems; sensitive to heat, loves cool, humid sites, frost hardy.
Soil: Fresh to moist, also damp, sensitive to drought; nutritious humic, loamy or clay soil, withers on loose soil.
Special notice: All Aconitum varieties are very poisonous!
